A Claude Cowork plugin that connects Claude to your Obsidian vault, so you can search notes, read entries, explore tags, and recall past writing — all in conversation.

What you can do

Once installed, just ask Claude things like:

• "What do I have on renewable energy in Africa?"
• "What happened in my call with Ramzi?"
• "Show me everything tagged #BDcall"
• "Summarise my notes on the Eswatini project"
• "What did I write about Zimbabwe last year?"

Requirements

• Claude Cowork desktop app
• Node.js (v18 or later) — comes pre-installed on most Macs
• An Obsidian vault on your computer

Installation

1. Download obsidian-claude-plugin.plugin from the Releases page
2. Open Cowork and go to the Plugins panel
3. Click Local uploads → + and select the .plugin file
4. When prompted, enter the full path to your Obsidian vault (e.g. /Users/yourname/Documents/Obsidian/MyVault)
5. Restart Cowork — your vault is now connected

Tools exposed to Claude

get_vault_overview	Total notes, top tags, date range
list_notes	List notes, optionally filtered by tag
read_note	Read the full content of a note by path
search_notes	Full-text search with snippets
list_tags	All tags with note counts
get_notes_by_tag	All notes carrying a given tag

No dependencies

The MCP server (server/server.js) is written in plain Node.js with zero npm dependencies. No npm install needed — it just works.

Pull requests welcome. If you'd like to add support for Apple Notes or other note-taking apps, open an issue first to discuss the approach.
