From save-your-startup
Break a large goal down into a connected hierarchy from decade-level vision to today's next action. Systematically chunks across seven time horizons so every daily effort connects to the bigger picture.

Guides envisioning of ideal future states across multiple dimensions, then reverse-engineers prerequisite chains, critical paths, and resource maps back to current reality for long-term planning.
Coaches users through GTD for annual goals: generates SOPs, daily tasks, progress tracking, and reviews. Persists state via memory across sessions. Activates on goal/planning queries.
Share bugs, ideas, or general feedback.

"Without goals, and plans to reach them, you are like a ship that has set sail with no destination." -- Fitzhugh Dodson
Big goals fail when the bridge between vision and daily action is missing. "We want to be the leading platform in our space" is inspiring on Monday morning and useless by Monday afternoon. Chunking connects every time horizon so that what you do today is a direct descendant of where you want to be in ten years.
In order to achieve X by Y, what has to be true in one day, one week, one month, one quarter, and one year?
That single question, applied recursively, turns an overwhelming ambition into a clear sequence of moves.
Frazer Brooks uses the metaphor of walking: action is the left leg, learning is the right leg. Do one without the other and you spin in circles.
At every time horizon, we will define both:
This keeps you moving forward in a straight line instead of running hard in the wrong direction.
Here is the full hierarchy, from the widest lens to the narrowest:
| Horizon | Timeframe | What It Defines |
|---|---|---|
| Vision | Decades | The world you want to create |
| Mission | A decade | Your role in creating that world |
| Goals | Annual | What you will accomplish this year |
| Strategy & Milestones | Quarterly | The bets you are making and how you will measure them |
| Tactics & KPIs | Monthly | The specific plays and their leading indicators |
| Targets | Weekly | Concrete deliverables for this week |
| Efforts | Daily | What you are doing today and what you expect to learn |
Each level should clearly support the one above it. If a daily effort does not connect to a weekly target, something is misaligned.
I will walk you through each horizon, starting from the top. At each level, I will ask you to define what success looks like and what has to be true to get there. Then we will move one level down and repeat.
I will ask you:
If you already have a clear vision, we will start there. If not, we will build one.
For each time horizon, I will ask:
We keep going until we reach daily efforts.
Once the full hierarchy exists, I will walk back up from the bottom:
If a link is broken, we fix it. If a level is overloaded with too many priorities, we trim.
The most important output is not the vision statement. It is the answer to: What are you doing today, and why?
We will make sure that answer is crystal clear.
Tell me:
I will take it from there, one horizon at a time.
When we are done, you will have:
Let's chunk it. What is the goal?
