List Snapshots

Display snapshots managed by snapper for a given configuration.

When to use

• Reviewing available rollback points
• Checking snapshot metadata (dates, descriptions)
• Identifying old snapshots for cleanup

Inputs to gather

• Snapper config name (e.g., root, home)

Procedure

1. Preflight: Verify snapper is installed. Confirm the config exists with sudo snapper list-configs.
2. Run sudo snapper -c <config> list --csvout to get machine-readable output.
3. Parse CSV: extract ID | Type | Date | Description | Userdata.
4. Render as a clean table, sorted by ID descending (newest first).

Output / side effects

Displays formatted table of snapshots. No state change.

Read-only query. Requires sudo.
