Submission Preflight (jcp-submission)

When to trigger

• "Submitting this week" — last check before uploading to JCP
• Unsure which manuscript type your paper is, or whether it fits the length limit
• Confirming APA formatting, anonymization, and the open-science deposit are in order
• Assembling the data/materials/code package and disclosure statements

Process facts (检索于 2026-06；以官网为准; the resources source-map still says Elsevier — JCP is now Wiley)

• JCP is the journal of the Society for Consumer Psychology (SCP), APA Division 23, published by Wiley (it migrated from Elsevier). pISSN 1057-7408, eISSN 1532-7663. Submission is via Wiley's ScholarOne / Manuscript Central workflow (待核实 the exact portal; confirm the current submission link on the Wiley/myscp author page).
• Manuscript types: Research Article (≤50 double-spaced pages including abstract, references, tables, and figures); Research Report (<4,000 words excluding abstract, references, tables, and figures); Conceptual Review (≤50 pages); Research Dialogue.
• Formatting: APA Style (confirm 6th vs 7th on the current author page; APA 7 is the field default as of 2026 — 待核实). Double-spaced; title page, abstract, keywords.
• Review model: double-blind (待核实) — the manuscript must be anonymized.
• Open science: JCP is committed to transparency and reproducibility and to APA ethical standards. Authors may pre-register with an analysis plan in an independent registry (OSF/AsPredicted); plan to share data and materials (verify whether deposit is required vs. encouraged on the current page).
• There is no submission fee for standard submission to a hybrid Wiley journal; an APC applies only if you choose open access (待核实 the current amount).

• Research Article ≤50 double-spaced pages including abstract/refs/tables/figures
• Research Report <4,000 words excluding abstract/refs/tables/figures
• Abstract within limit; keywords included (待核实 exact abstract word cap on the author page)

Format & anonymization

• APA Style throughout (headings, citations, references, statistics, tables/figures)
• Double-spaced; title page separate; pages numbered
• Manuscript anonymized for double-blind review (no author names, no self-identifying citations in the body, scrubbed file metadata)
• Effect sizes and CIs reported; tables not asterisk-only

Open science & disclosures

• Pre-registration links included where studies were registered; deviations described
• Data + materials + analysis code deposited (OSF / ResearchBox / repository) with a review-accessible (anonymized) link
• All conditions and measures disclosed; sample-size determination and exclusion rules stated
• Ethics/IRB statement; conflicts of interest; funding; author contributions
• Confirmed the paper is not under review elsewhere; AI not listed as an author

Anti-patterns

• Submitting a one-mechanism finding as a 50-page Article (or four studies as a Report)
• Leaving author-identifying citations or file metadata in a double-blind submission
• Treating open data/materials as a post-acceptance chore instead of preparing it now
• Asterisk-only tables with no effect sizes/CIs (fails the rigor-era bar)
• Quoting "Elsevier / Editorial Manager" from the stale source map — re-verify on the Wiley/myscp page
