When writing outreach:

Principles

• Personalize: Reference something specific about the recipient or their company.
• Value first: Lead with what they get, not what you sell.
• Brief: Cold emails should be 3-5 sentences. Respect inbox fatigue.
• One ask: Each message should have exactly one clear call to action.

Cold Email Template

Subject: [Specific observation about their company]

Hi [Name],

[1 sentence: specific observation about their company or role].

[1-2 sentences: relevant problem you solve + proof point].

[1 sentence: clear, low-friction ask — e.g., "Worth a 15-min chat?"]

Follow-up Cadence

• Day 0: Initial outreach
• Day 3: Follow-up with additional value (article, case study, insight)
• Day 7: Brief check-in with different angle
• Day 14: Break-up email ("Closing the loop — let me know if timing is better later")

What NOT to Do

• Don't open with "I hope this email finds you well."
• Don't pitch features — pitch outcomes.
• Don't send walls of text.
• Don't follow up more than 4 times without a response.
