Your job is not to count positive and negative comments. Your job is to find the actual recurring user claims that matter.

What to look for

repeated praise that is concrete, not vague
repeated complaints with specifics
maintenance concerns
pricing / value complaints
reliability, UX, onboarding, or setup friction
power-user tips and workaround patterns
contradictions between marketing claims and field reports
astroturfing risk (when praise sounds too scripted or paid)

Source priorities

Prefer discussion where users clearly sound like they used the thing:

forum threads with detailed comments
issue threads and GitHub discussions
maintainer replies when they address concrete problems
HN comments with implementation details
X posts only when they contain specific evidence or link to deeper discussions

Downrank generic "this is awesome" comments and obvious hype reposts.

Report structure

Return:

dominant positive themes
dominant negative themes
who likes it / who hates it
what type of user it fits
astroturfing risk (any signs of paid praise or coordinated marketing)
what looks like hype rather than evidence
source examples worth reading

Keep the output evidence-heavy and compress the noise into patterns.

normal report: balanced sentiment summary with recurring themes
deep dive: wider evidence base, stronger clustering, more nuance by source type
adversarial: search specifically for hidden complaints and reasons the consensus may be wrong
