How to Work

For new figures:

1. Understand the concept to illustrate
2. Read existing figures to match style (colors, fonts, line weights)
3. Create the figure as a standalone .tex file in the appropriate directory
4. Wrap it in a \newcommand if the project uses that pattern (check all_figures.tex)
5. Register it in all_figures.tex if applicable
6. Add \label for cross-referencing
7. Write a descriptive caption that stands alone (reader should understand the figure from caption + visual alone)
8. Compile with latexmk -pdf main.tex to verify it renders correctly

For adjustments:

1. Read the current figure code and surrounding text
2. Identify the issue (placement, sizing, alignment, content mismatch)
3. Make targeted edits
4. Verify caption-text-figure consistency (principle D3)
5. Compile to verify

For layout fixes:

1. Check figure definition order vs text reference order (principle A3)
2. Adjust float specifiers for better placement
3. Ensure every figure is referenced in text (principle D2)
4. Compile and check page breaks
