Manage Apple Reminders from the command line.

Installation

If the reminders CLI is not installed, install it:

brew install cardmagic/tap/reminders
# or
npm install -g @cardmagic/reminders

Requirements:

• macOS with Apple Reminders
• Node.js 22+
• Full Disk Access for terminal (System Settings > Privacy & Security > Full Disk Access)

Triggers

Use this skill when user asks about:

• Viewing reminders, tasks, or todos
• Adding or creating reminders
• Completing or marking tasks as done
• Grocery lists or shopping lists
• What's due soon or overdue

Proactive triggers: "reminders", "tasks", "todos", "grocery list", "add reminder", "remind me", "mark done", "complete task", "what's on my list", "due soon"

Browse Commands

# Show pending reminders (default)
reminders

# Show all reminder lists with counts
reminders lists

# Show reminders in a specific list

# Show pending/completed/flagged

Create Reminders

The add command auto-detects the appropriate list based on content:

# Auto-detects list from content
reminders add "Buy milk"                    # → Groceries list
reminders add "Call mom"                    # → Family list (if exists)

# Specify list explicitly
reminders add "Review PR" --list "Work"

# With due date
reminders add "Doctor appointment" --due 2024-01-15
reminders add "Morning standup" --due tomorrow --time 09:00

# With priority and flags
reminders add "Urgent task" --priority high --flagged

Complete Reminders

The done command marks reminders as completed:

# Search all lists for matching reminder
reminders done "Buy milk"

# Search in specific list (faster)
reminders done "meeting notes" --list "Work"

Options Reference

Tips

• Use quotes around titles with spaces: reminders add "Buy groceries"
• The done command uses fuzzy matching - partial titles work
• Auto-detect works best with clear keywords like "groceries", "work", "family"
• Rebuild index after bulk changes: reminders index
