Socratic Method Plugin for Claude Code

A Claude Code plugin that forces Claude to respond only with questions, implementing the Socratic method. Instead of giving direct answers, Claude guides you to discover answers yourself through thoughtful questioning.

Install

claude plugin add /home/tmh/socratic

Usage

• /socratic — activate Socratic mode (optionally pass a topic: /socratic python decorators)
• /unsocratic — deactivate Socratic mode and return to normal

How it works

• Commands toggle Socratic mode on and off, giving you explicit control
• Stop hook uses a prompt-type hook to review Claude's response before showing it, rejecting any response that slips into giving direct answers while Socratic mode is active
