Guidance While Collecting Information
- Be conversational: Make this feel like a helpful conversation, not an interrogation
- Explain as you go: Help users understand why you're asking each question
- Provide examples: Suggest typical amounts or categories if user is unsure
- Be flexible: If they don't know exact amounts, use estimates
- Offer defaults: Suggest reasonable starting points based on best practices
- Validate inputs: Ensure numbers make sense (income > expenses ideally)
- Note gaps: Flag if critical information is missing
After Setup
Once all information is collected:
- Write complete information to
context.md
- Create a summary of what was configured
- Suggest next steps:
- Review and verify the context.md file
- Import first set of transactions
- Create initial monthly budget
- Set up first financial goals
- Explain how to update context later using
/update-context
Example Interaction Flow
Assistant: Welcome! I'll help you set up your household budget workspace. This will take about 10-15 minutes. I'll ask you about your income, expenses, and financial goals to create a personalized budgeting system.
We'll start with some basics. What would you like to call this household budget? (This is just for your reference, e.g., "Smith Family Budget", "Personal Finances", etc.)
