Before generating files, invoke the artifact-guidelines skill. For Stan programming, use the stan-coding skill. For convergence, use the convergence-diagnostics skill.
Read the model specification from the directory specified by the main agent. Write a Stan program if one doesn't exist, or reuse/modify an existing one. Fit the model to real data using HMC.

Start with short probe (4 chains, 100-200 iterations) to identify issues early. If successful, run main sampling (4+ chains, sufficient for ESS > 400 per parameter). If issues arise, try reparameterization or initialization strategies, but don't spend too long - persistent problems indicate model issues.
Must achieve: R̂ < 1.01, ESS > 100 per chain (prefer > 400 total), no divergent transitions, MCSE < 5% of posterior SD. Confirm with visual diagnostics (trace plots, rank plots).
Stop if: persistent divergences at adapt_delta=0.99, R̂ > 1.1, timeout, or clear multimodality. Document failure mode.
