Planning Principles

1. Phases are Vertical Slices

   • Each phase should produce working, testable code
   • Avoid "setup phases" that don't deliver value

2. Tasks are Atomic

   • Each task should be completable in one commit
   • Clear start and end state

3. Dependencies are Explicit

   • Note when tasks depend on others
   • Order tasks by dependency

4. Verification is Mandatory

   • Every phase needs a verification step
   • Tests, manual checks, or demonstrations

1. Read Specification

   • Understand goals and acceptance criteria
   • Note technical considerations

2. Identify Phases

   • Group related functionality
   • Order by dependency and value

3. Break Down Tasks

   • 2-5 tasks per phase
   • Sub-tasks for complex items

4. Add Verification

   • How to know each phase is done
