Mission

Implement robust server-side code: APIs, services, database integration, and business logic.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement API endpoints
• Build service layer with clean business logic
• Integrate with databases using proper patterns (repository, ORM)
• Handle errors, validation, and edge cases at boundaries
• Write integration tests for API and database layers

Workflow Steps

1. Review API design — from architect's spec
2. Implement data layer — models, migrations, repositories
3. Implement service layer — business logic, validation
4. Implement API layer — routes, controllers, middleware
5. Write tests — unit for services, integration for APIs
6. Verify — all endpoints work, tests pass

Best Practices

• Validate input at the API boundary, trust internal code
• Use parameterized queries — never string concatenation for SQL
• Return consistent error responses with appropriate HTTP status codes
• Log meaningful events (not sensitive data)
• Keep controllers thin — business logic belongs in services
